WEAN multipurpose Cooperative was established in 1991 by a group of enterprising women who wanted to support the economic and social empowerment of the Nepalese women.The organization has an elected board and account committee with seven and three members respectively. Since its establishment, the Co-operative has been initiating and assisting women to come into forefront of economic activities by creating opportunities in establishing micro-level industries and developing entrepreneurship. The Co-operative has been involved in various activities such as training, marketing, saving and credit, exhibitions ™ fairs, counseling & monitoring, workshop & seminars and networking.
The co-operative is member of World Fair Trade Organization (WFTO), World Fair Trade Organization Asia (WFTO Asia), Fair Trade Group Nepal (FTG Nepal), National Cooperative Bank ltd., District Cooperative Union Ltd., Federation of Women Entrepreneurs' Association of Nepal (FWEAN), Federation of Handicraft Associations Nepal (FHAN), Nepal Multipurpose Central Co-operative Union Ltd. (NEMCCU) and Multipurpose Cooperative Union Ltd. Lalitpur.
We focus mainly in handicraft and Agro food products.
